The Brockton 21st Century Corporation is a private, non-profit economic development agency that has formed a unique partnership with the City of Brockton, acting as the City's economic development agency - retaining, attracting, and growing business and making Brockton a better place to live, work, and invest.

Established as an act of the legislature in 1993 and initially funded by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Agency, the Brockton 21st Century Corporation is a 501c (6) non-profit organization with a Board of Directors made up primarily of business leaders from the private sector as well as government leaders including Mayor James E. Harrington, the City Council President, Chief Financial Officer, City Planner and the Brockton Redevelopment Authority. The Corporation's budget is driven by a grant from the City of Brockton, and private business investments and memberships.

Mission Statement/Strategy
To enhance the position, image and perception of Brockton as a desirable place to live and work by encouraging financial investment, business development, job creation and retention through economic development.
  1. Work with Brockton based businesses to expand or retain their employment and investment in the community. Provide special attention to economic development in the city core.
  2. Encourage the development, redevelopment, and investment in unused or underutilized property in Brockton, especially in the less developed or more economic challenging portions of the city core.
  3. Work with outside businesses to encourage site selection and investment in Brockton while maximizing financial investment, job creation and revenue growth. Provide extra attention to targeting businesses that may be most successful in Brockton's less developed city core.
  4. Develop a recommendation to coordinate Brockton's private and public Economic Development activities which will result in a seamless system that encourages and guides businesses to locate and expand in the City of Brockton.
  5. Maintain and grow the economic benefit of Campanelli Stadium and the Shaw's Conference Center while protecting the assets of the facility.
